Raysor & Related Family Cemeteries
THE MAY FAMILY CEMETERY
from the book, Cemeteries of Upper Colleton County, S.C.
Published 1972

According to the book, the May Family Cemetery is located 2.2 miles from the intersection of S.C. Highway 61 and U.S. Highway 21 which is known as Porter's Cross Roads.  It is .1 of a mile off U.S. Hwy. 21 headed south toward the town of Smoaks.  It is on the left side, just beyond some large pecan trees, between two open fields, past a narrow row of trees running parallel to the paved road.  I believe this is the cemetery that Frank W. Raysor restored to some extent, but it may not be in good condition now.

The book goes on to say that this land was once part of the Dr. Peter Stokes plantation, Dr. Stokes selling to John Jacob May, the husband of Frances Susan Connor, around 1865-70.
